The Guernsey County Youth Commission is a unified effort of area agencies, businesses, community leaders and concerned citizens established to meet the needs of youth and families in Guernsey County, and implement core values to be passed on to future.

Our goal is to promote healthy and productive youth in the Guernsey County area by implementing innovative and creative programs and activities to foster the development of safe and stable families.

This is achieved by a dedicated group of volunteers from various public and private agencies, as well as concerned adults and youth in our county.

Mission Statement
The Guernsey County Youth Commission will work to enhance the lives of youths and families, while combating juvenile delinquency and community deterioration, by building on community assets and core vales.

The Commission will make a concentrated effort, through continuous evaluation, to develop in collaboration with the private sector, playful and realistic programming for area youth.

Utilizing active citizen involvement, the Commission will strive to build a legacy for the youth of Guernsey County.

The Guernsey County Youth Commission is based on these seven core values: Education & Opportunity; Family; Honesty & Integrity; healthful & Balanced Living; Personal Safety & Security; Value of the Individual; Personal Responsibility & Accountability.

Guernsey County Youth Commission SMARTT Program
The SMARTT Program (Supplying Mentoring of At-Risk Teens to Tots) of the GCYC is a brand new program formed and modeled after the former Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in Guernsey County.

The program focuses on group and peer mentoring for at-risk youth throughout Guernsey County. Programming is now being researched and drafted with a hopeful roll-out date of January 2005.

The new SMARTT Program will allow for greater flexibility in what services and programs can be offered to the youth of the county, with the ability to mold the program on the suggestions of the youth and volunteers that are involved.

If you have any interest in volunteering or having your child involved with the SMARTT Program, please call 432-6815, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
