Why are we successful?
 We
have found that many volunteers from the community are
more than willing to work with our program.
Therefore our success rate has risen along with
the development of the JET program. Volunteers
from local businesses have made it possible for our
Down Town Summer Work Program. The
teens are able to get a first hand experience
of responsibilities that a job brings, along with the
benefits of some extra cash in their pocket.
There are also many other willing citizens from
the community that help incorporate their
programs Into ours. This enables us to
provide each teen with a wide variety
of knowledge and resources.
Programs such as Teen Pregnancy
Prevention, Suicide Prevention,
Coalition, Smoking Cessation, Help Me Grow,
South Eastern Medical Center, and Area Agency on
Aging. partner with us, so that we may achieve our JET
mission.
What Else Does JET Bring to the Table?
JET brings teens from all over Guernsey County, to
a common structured meeting place twice a week. This
provides each teen with new outlets and friendships.
Building a strong, honest
community is a goal that we strive to achieve each JET
session so that everyone feels welcomed and encouraged
to build their job skills, friendships, personal. and
healthy living skills. Is There More? You Bet!!!
Outside of the weekly meetings, we offer assistance to
the teens throughout the week. Our door is always open
for any member to come and discuss personal issues or
issues about the group. One-on-one homework assistance
is also offered by each instructor. The biggest
benefit of JET, when its all said and done, is that
each teen will be able to use their instructor as a
reference for future job opportunities upon successful
completion of the JET program.
 A little bit about JET
The program runs two nights
a week for 2 hours and is facilitated by two
instructors. Currently, our
programming runs in duration from 8-12
weeks. We are ready and willing
to serve any teen in Guernsey
County aged from 14-18. JET incorporates many
activities such as: mock interviews;
guest speakers from
a variety of professions, resume building, personality
testing, skills to locate jobs, self
reflection activities, organizational
skills, drug and alcohol
education, and a unique program for girls known
as Girl's Circle, and much more ...

Through our unique program, Job Education for Teens
GET), your teen will be provided with the essential
skills needed to enter today's work force. By
providing a variety of skills: life, employment,
leadership, and by adding in mentorship and
citizenship; your teen will
be on their way to becoming a successful adult
in today's ever changing workforce. |
